Service designers at FutureGov

  • understand and design how services work within a wider systems focus
  • coordinate and facilitate shared understanding, working closely with teams and partners to scale, implement and manage change
  • are great at articulating and visualising a future service offer based on the needs of users, organisations and society
  • bring ideas to life to enable validated learning, testing key assumptions with organisations and users
  • offer support for implementation, from building capability where needed to detailing touchpoints, both digital and physical
  • work closely with others to make sure all project work is delivered on time and budget
  • are happy to travel to client sites as and when necessary

Experience and mindset

Essential:

  • experience with user-centred design and agile ways of working
  • ability to navigate the complexities of public services, understanding the systems they’re part of
  • experience of working with participatory and community-led design - this means being capable of identifying power dynamics, bias and being proactive in enabling communities and participants growth
  • a confident communicator to explain insights, design decisions and ideas in a way that other people understand
  • confident in framing assumptions to test hypotheses and understand how product propositions sit within services
  • experience in identifying areas of opportunity for service innovation and how to design for them
  • can work with partners to understand the organisation culture and appetite for change
  • experience in designing inclusive services, involving at-risk and hard to reach groups
  • confidence in leading the prototyping phase, from recruitment to building touchpoints and their evaluation
  • be someone who understands and helps others to work thinking digitally and beyond

Desirable:

  • experience in implementing a service offer, and have worked closely with internal stakeholders to define the details of the implementation plan for a touchpoint up to an end to end experience
  • experience in the healthcare sector
  • interested and increasingly capable of coaching others to progress drawing from their own experience and knowledge
